Felipe Castro Cerda was a Visiting Professor with the CCWJ from February 2025 to February 2026, joining from the University of Santiago de Chile. His work focused on how laser heat treatments (LHT) and handheld laser beam welding (HLBW) affect the microstructure and mechanical properties of steels. By deepening the understanding of laser–material interactions, his goal is to help develop components and processes that deliver higher quality and longer service lifetimes for industry.
Outside of work, Felipe enjoys gardening and caring for his pets.
